In March, my girlfriend Alex and I visited and saw 17 lighthouses over the course of 5 days. I was only able to post one photo during the days of those visits. Now, I am dedicating photo stories to each lighthouse. Here are my favorite photos from the Frankfort North Breakwater Light!
We arrived in Frankfort, checked in to our hotel, and headed straight for the lighthouse.
As soon as I got there, I set up a time lapse. I planned to use my Rebel T5i for the sequence, but having forgotten my intervalometer in my suitcase in the hotel, I switched over and ended up using the 7D Mark II for the sequence.
I am really happy with how it turned out, even though the sun only popped out for a brief moment.
First, as always, Alex and I had to get a photo of ourselves:
After that while the time lapse was running, I was able to get my Mavic in the air and capture some pretty incredible images once the sun popped out.
From the air, here were some of my favorites:
Just after the sun had dipped below the horizon, the color of the water really shined through.
Top-down aerial view of the lighthouse. The rust on the cap of the light and the transition of the harbor water (dark) to lake water (light) was especially cool in this.
I was also quite amazed when I noticed in post, how rocky the area around the pier is.
Mother Nature doesn’t mess around and one thing I learned quickly on my lighthouse trip was to respect it.
My favorite aerial from my visit to the Frankfort Light though, was this with the Michigan bluffs in the background.
and my overall favorite was this shot of the Sun flanking the Light on one side as it popped out from behind the clouds:
