Looking forward to the summer when, from the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, the Sun will again make its way through the Chicago skyline.

This past summer, my good friend Tom Jones and I met at the Indiana Dunes to photograph the Chicago skyline at sunset. We ended up with some great moments!

It was a windy one, and Tom got some great shots of the kite surfers:

We arrived a few hours before sunset and she was high above the skyline. The first thing we noticed was that there were a good number of clouds in the direction of the skyline.

We were initially quite disappointed to see them.

We soon realized, they would reveal quite a scene. The clouds must’ve been somewhere between us and the Chicago shores because when the sun dropped behind the clouds…it revealed this high-contrast scene of the skyline still illuminated:

A few short minutes of waiting and the sun marched its way down into the skyline.

I took many shots but my favorite was this of sun backdropping the skyline:

Until June and July…

Thanks, and see you tomorrow for another photo story!
