The top post of all time on r/Purdue is this really awesome two-photo composite of the Engineering Fountain here at Purdue surrounded by the stars.
I’ve thought for a long time on how I might be able to put my own spin on it, using a single exposure right out of the camera. I’ve recently discovered the technique of popping the on-camera flash to illuminate falling snowflakes and thought those sort of resemble stars.
This is the photo that inspired me:
Last night just before midnight, it began to lightly snow – so I thought I might give it a go.
I setup on the east side of the Fountain, took a few test exposures and fired away (30x) until I got one where the snow flakes were evenly distributed – ending up with this shot.
